Following the start of construction work of smart road in Nashik city, traffic congestion is a regular phenomenon. Nashikites experienced the same on Friday afternoon.
However, the traffic situation was very bad. Traffic signals at central locations in the city were shut. People faced more difficulty as traffic police personnel were not present there. The traffic on Gadkari signal to Naka has been diverted due to goddess Kalika fair.
In addition, a first smart road between Trimbak Naka to Ashok Stambh is being constructed fo the last two years under the smart city mission. The traffic here has been diverted, nearby roads are witnessing traffic congestion.
As Friday was last day to file nominations for the state assembly elections, candidates and office bearers were gathered in large numbers at the district collectorate. Considering this, roads in Trimbaka Naka and CBS area were closed for traffic. As Thakkar Bazaar and old Central Bus Stand are located on this route, commuters from outside had to face huge inconvenience.
Barring Trimbak Naka area, Gadkari Chowk and Sharanpur Road, traffic police personnel were not seen elsewhere.
drivers had to take more than one-and-half hour to pass 2-km distance, they expressed their anger.
Meanwhile, barring Ganjmal and Red Cross, traffic signal system at Meher, CBS, Trimbak Naka and Shranpur Road was shut. As traffic police were absent, some drivers took efforts to clear the traffic. This helped in restoring the traffic to some extent.
