CITU organises march to IGP office


Nashik : Centre of Indian Trade Unions staged a sit-in agitation opposite the office of special Inspector General of Police at Gadkari Chowk. Agitators demanded to suspend Wadiware police station personnel for filing false cases against workers from Chandwad and beating them up mercilessly.

The march which began from Golf Club passed through Trimbak Naka, GPO, Khadkali signal and via Sarda Circle reached the office of special IGP. As agitators staged sit-in agitation there, traffic was jammed.

A memorandum was given to special IGP Vinoykumar Choube. Workers in Moniyar roofing company at Wadiwarhe accepted CITU leadership. A false chargesheet and show cause notices were issued for this. False case was registered against worker leader Devidas Aadole and 22 workers and 17 workers were arrested. Police removed clothes of arrested workers and beat them up. Eye of one worker was lost. Police did this after company manager Pavan Kasar asked them, claims the memorandum and demand was made to register criminal cases against police inspector Sandip Kolekar and other four police personnel.

False cases were registered against workers of Goglu Agro in Chandwad taluka after management of the company asked. Take back cases against workers of both companies immediately. Cases against agitators who participated in farmers’ strike should also be withdrawn, it was also demanded.

The march was organised under guidance of national vice president of CITU Dr. D L Karad, MLA J P Gavit, district vice president Shridhar Deshpande, district chief Sitaram Thombre and general secretary Devidas Adole.
State vice chairperson of CITU Adv. Vasudha Karad, Kalpana Shinde, Haribhau Tambe and other office bearers also took part in the march.
