Deolali Camp : Paying heed to the educational needs of the cantonment schools which are to reopen after summer vacation, the Deolali Cantonment Board (DCB), for the first time, taking a serious cognizance of the educational requirements of the cantonment students, has decided to make available educational materials to them in the very first week of reopening of the schools after the summer vacation.
The DCB at its crucial meet, chaired by vice president Dinkar Adhav, took its first and a major decision to make available educational materials which include textbooks, books, school bags, uniform, shoes etc to as many as 2100 students from Nursery to Class X of the cantonment schools, in the first week itself after commencement of the new academic year.
Corporator Prabhavati Dhivare, Sachin Thakare, Bhagwan Kataria, Asha Godse, Kaveri Kasar, Baburao Mojad, Meena Karanjkar, Brig S M Sudumbrekar, Major Piyush Jain, Col Sanjay Kapoor, Kamlesh Chavan and CEO Vilas Pawar were present. The meeting was held under Article 39 of the Cantonment Act, 2006 in absence of sitting board chairman Brig Pradeep Kaul.
The other important decisions taken at the meet include recruitment of staff and practicing doctors on contractual basis and payment of salary to them as per the Supreme Court decision, hike in rates of various surgical operations — expenses for minor surgery increased to Rs 800 from the existing Rs 400, while for major surgery, charges increased to Rs 2500 from Rs 1500. To seek appointment of doctors, fees has been increased to Rs 1000 from Rs 750.
Decisions also include issuance of e-tender for recruitment of security guards on local basis, fixation of charges for cleanliness of safety tanks — charges Rs 1600 for a single house, Rs 2000 for residential societies from two-house to ten-house, Rs 4000 (from 11-house to 20-house) and Rs 5000 for residential complexes above 20 houses and for commercial purposes including hotels, saloons, lawns etc, charges have been fixed at Rs 5000 per service.
