ATS arrests three youths from Nashik


Nashik: After receiving information that weapons were arriving in Nashik city from Madhya Pradesh, the Anti Terrorist Squad personnel laid a trap on Friday midnight (Oct. 13) at Pimpalgaon Baswant toll naka and arrested two for smuggling weapons from other state. It also arrested a person who sought these weapons. All these three are hailing from Nashik city.

The names of the suspects are Abhidutta Khanderao Patil (23), Hitesh Ratan Deore (24, both residents of New Nashik) and Pankaj Gaikwad (resident of Nashik Road, Nashik) who sought the weapons).

Nashik ATS got information that a stock of weapons was arriving from other state. It laid the trap at Pimpalgaon Baswant toll naka on Friday night. The ATS personnel checked suspect motorcycle riders around 12 am to 1 am. Patil and Deore reached the toll naka around 1 am by their motorcycle. After their movements were found susipicious, the ATS squad caught them and checked them. The ATS personnel found three country made revolvers and eight live cartridges under motorcycle seat and in a bag. They were immediately taken into custody. During interrogation they informed that these weapons were to be given to Pankaj Gaikwad.

The ATS personnel laid the trap on Saturday morning at Nashik Road and arrested Pankaj Gaikwad and shifted all the suspects to Mumbai. A case under arms act has been registered against them at Kala Chowki police station in Mumbai. The court remanded these accused to seven days’ police custody.
