Ashok Stambh to be closed from today; City traffic police issue notification

The construction in the last stage of the smart road project under the smart city mission will begin from today (Nov 22). As construction of junction at Ashok Stambh Chowk will be started, the area will remain closed for the next 45 days for the traffic. City police have issued a notification regarding diversion of traffic in the area.

All the connecting roads will be closed during the work. The roads which will remain close are that roads connecting CBS and Meher with Ashok Stambh, Vakilwadi to Ashok Satmbh, Ramwadi to Ashok Stambh, Gangapur to Ashok Stambh and Ashok Stambh to Ravivar Karanja.

Roads that are closed and optional routes:

CBS-Mehar signal to Ashok Stambh route is closed

Options: 1) Buses and heavy vehicles will be diverted from Tilakwadi Signal-Canada Corner-Old Gangapur Naka- Chopda Lawns and Panchavati via Ramwadi.
2) For vehicles approaching Panchavati, the route will be from Meher signal – Sangali Bank signal-Ravivar Karanja to Panchavati
3) Meher Signal – Vakilwadi to Ravivar Karanja

Only Two Wheeler are allowed from Ramwadi to Ashok Stambh route.

1) The other vehicles can use the optional route of Baijabai Chavani-Chopda Lawns-Old Gangapur Naka

Roads Connecting from Gangapur will also be closed. The optional route is as follows:
The traffic from Gangapur Road will be diverted from Veterinary Hospital-Sidhheshwar Mandir-Ramwadi Bridge-Makhamalabad Naka-Malegaon Stand to Panchavati

Two-way traffic on RK to Red Cross route

The city traffic police have decided to make the one-way traffic on Ravivar Karanja to Red Cross two-way till completion of the work. Only small vehicles like cars, bikes and small utility vehicles will be allowed on this route. The move is said to be heroic but after implementation, it will be clear whether it’s a heroic move or mistake.
