Nashik: Considering the rise in air pollution, a special drive has been undertaken at the central level. Nashik is among those four cities in the country which has been selected for this. The efforts will be taken to control the air pollution in the city area with various measures under this special drive.
The various measures are being taken across the world for the conservation of the environment. The government of India has undertaken a special drive under the national clean project in association with TERI, International Institute for Applied System Analysis and AIAI which are working at a global level.
Four cities – Lucknow, Kanpur, Pune and Nashik have been selected in the 1st phase. This will help in making Nashik a smart city in a real sense. Senior advisor of Switzerland Agency for Development and Cooperation Anand Shukla, director, TERI Sumit Sharma, Shivani Sharma and Varsha Gupta informed about this project in a special meeting organised at Nashik divisional office of MPCB on Wednesday.
The action plan will be prepared in a month after study. A committee of representatives of industry, environmentalists, various social organisations and NGOs will be formed., informed Sumit Sharma.
” Though the weather in Nashik looks pleasant, the air pollution level in the city is rising. If attention is not paid to this, this would become dangerous in future. Considering this, the government of India has included Nashik among four cities.
