42 lakh saplings to be planted in Nashik division


Nashik : The government had target to plant 4 crore saplings this year and there was a plan to plant 37 lakh saplings in Nashik division. This target will now be increased to 42 lakh, informed forest conservator S V Ramarao.

A micro plan has been made for plantation of the saplings and preparations are going for this, he informed further. A work has been started at 54 centres in the city to reach saplings to people through saplings at your door project charging Rs. 6-11. Saplings are also being sold from the centres at Manmad and Malegaon, Ramarao stated.

Meanwhile, saplings have been prepared at total 86 nurseries of forest department. Currently, more than 1 crore saplings are ready. Saplings will be planted at forest land as well as private land. All government establishments will involve in this. Besides this, various organisations working for environment protection, colleges and non-governmental organisations registered their names on the Harit Sena website. Registration is also going on at mobile application by the forest department and micro planning is being made from that point of view.

As information about saplings which will be planted has to be furnished immediately to the government, meetings were conducted at Nashik and Ahmednagar districts to make planning. Instructions have been issued to forest range officer and forest guards. A planning has also been made about locations where saplings to be planted. Preparations about transport, arrangement of human resources and appointment of employees have been made since last three months, Ramarao informed.

Correspondence has been made all government departments in Nashik district and they have been urged to take part in the drive. A copy of the planning has been made by the forest department was also given to the District Collector, he said. This drive will be conducted from July 1-7.
