376 monuments shut down by archeology department

NASHIK :

The Assistant Director of Archeology (ADA) office of Nashik circle has shut down all the 45 protected monuments. The State Archeology Department has shut down 376 monuments under its protection. The decision has been taken given the Covid-19 outbreak. Tourists and locals are also prohibited to visit these monuments. Nashik Regional Museum at Sarkarwada is also shut down for tourists.

Nashik circle ADA, Aarti Aalay informed that as per the directions from the headquarters the 45 protected monuments in Nashik circle are shut down. The guards at Malegaon, Kopargaon and Bhagur are directed to restrict the entry at the monuments. The directions has been given as a preventive measure. The decision has been taken to control the spread of Covid-19.

The decision to shut the monuments for tourists has been given by the State Archeology Department in all the divisions. The monuments will remain close till March 31. Nashikites are requested to stay at home and avoid gathering. The colleges, schools, malls, shopping centres are already closed in the district. There are 52 positive patients in the state, the highest in the country.
