26,379 cases resolved in Lok Adalat


Nashik: The Nashik district court resolved record break 26,379 cases in Lok Adalat held in the district. 22,678 pre-litigation matters and 3,701 pending cases were among them. Rs. 26 crore was recovered in this Lok Adalat as mutal understanding. Total 64,000 cases were kept in the Lok Adalat.

The national Lok Adalat was held in the district court and at all courts in the district. Principal district and sessions judge Suryakant Shinde, secretary of district legal service authority Sudhir Bukke, all judges in the district and employees worked hard and issued notices to parties. Nashik city and rural police delivered them. 26,379 cases were resolved successfully in national Lok Adalat due to cooperation by lawyers and parties in the district, informed judge Bukke.

Principal district and sessions court judge Suryakant Shinde took initiative for resolving more and more cases. He had visited all courts in the district that parties should get benefit of the golden opportunity like Lok Adalat to resolve their disputes amicably. He had conducted meetings with judges, lawyers and parties and explained importance of the Lok Adalat to them. Shinde also conducted meetings with the District Collector and officials of concerned department regarding land acquisition cases. He also held meetings with the Municipal Commissioner and officials regarding cases related to NMC.

District court system was taking hard efforts since last two months to get pending and pre-litigation matters with mutal understanding. As awareness on large scale was created in the district, cases on large scale were filed in the Lok Adalat.
Parties have to wait for years to get justice due number of cases which are filing every days and shortage of judges. As complaint and respondent both were present in Lok Adalat and resolved their disputes amicably.

Meanwhile, more than 20,000 parties were present in the Lok Adalat which was conducted after initiative by the district judge. An enquiry cell had been started for them.
