220 applications filled up so far: Manav Uthan Manch helping poor to fill up RTE forms

NASHIK :

Admission process for 25 per cent seats which are reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) has been started. Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has requested for applications from those parents who are willing to take admission for their child.

Under the free and compulsory education for children under section 12 C of the Act 2009, the list of schools has been prepared as per directions by the primary education board of state. Manav Uthan Manch, a social service organization is helping the poor in the city in filling up the forms.

The volunteers of the organization have so far helped 220 people to apply for RTE successfully. In the civic limits, there are a total of 92 schools which have been selected under RTE. The list of the schools has been uploaded on the RTE websites.

The admission process for 1893 seats under RTE in the city for the academic year 2020-2021 has been started online. It has been started from February 12 and the last date of filling up the form online is February 29. Members of the organization have said that the people are not aware about the RTE yet.

They don’t even know that such a law is there. There are many misconceptions in society about RTE. The organization is spreading awareness through home visits and distributing pamphlets in slum areas. They are also teaching youngsters in area how to fill up the form to help others.

The Corporation has also appealed parents to take benefit of RTE. The residential proof, birth certificate, income certificate, caste certificate and other documents are mandatory for process. The list of other documents required is available online.

RTE essentials

If a child is born between October 1st, 2013 to January 30th, 2020, he/she is eligible for admission through RTE for the academic year 2020-2021. If the income of the family is less than Rs one lakh annually, the child will get free education for up to eight years of schooling.

RTE help centers

Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has found out that the applicants make mistakes while filling up the form at cyber cafes. In order to help people, the Corporation has made available two help centers this year.

Gangapur Road Help Center

Nashik Road Help Center

The awareness about the Right To Education act is still very less. The Corporation, as well as various organizations, are spreading the word about this in their capacities, but it is not enough. There are also complications regarding the form. People are confused about the eligibility of birth date. We appeal to Nashikites if possible help the poor to fill up the forms, this is the least we can do.”
