NASHIK :
Sixteen new COVID-19 patients were detected, including six police personnel and State Reserve Police Force jawans in the sealed city of Malegaon on Friday hence taking pandemic tally in Nashik district to 298, informed district administration.
With detecting of five new fresh cases, the tally in Malegaon has reached 274. Reports of 16 suspects were received positive in the afternoon, while reports of 122 suspects were received negative. Among those 16 suspects who turned positive, six are SRPF jawans and police personnel. These positive patients are from Om Mahalaxmi colony, Hinglaj Nagar, Gulsher Nagar and Nayapura area. Meanwhile, the administration has started to quarantine the kin of these patients.
Malegaon Municipal Corporation has fixed 41 containment areas till Thursday evening. With the detection of new 16 cases on Friday, containment areas will be increased.
As a number of infected police personnel has risen to 48, there is fear among other SRPF jawans and police personnel.
New COVID-19 case reported in Sinnar
A 32-year-old youth residing in Wadgaon in Sinnar tehsil was tested positive in the morning on Friday. It is understood that he returned to Wadgaon from Mumbai three days ago. As a result, pandemic tally in Sinnar tehsil has risen to three.
