15,000 farmers in state given loan waiver : 706 farmers in district to get loan waiver

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra State had promised to give loan waiver to farmers. On the eve of the budget session, he said that he will announce the names of the first list of loan waiver on Monday. Accordingly, the first list with names of 15,358 farmers has been announced by the Chief Minister. The government has selected two villages from every district in the first phase to see how the scheme works.

From Nashik district, Chandori village from Niphad tehsil and Sonambe village from Sinnar tehsil have been selected. A total of 706 farmers from the district have been given loan waiver. From Chandori village, 485 farmers will get the benefit of loan waiver, while from Sonambe village 221 farmers are selected.

These farmers will get the benefit of loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh under Mahatma Jyotirao Phule loan waiver scheme. A total of 1.47 lakh farmers in the district will get the benefit of loan waiver and the pending loan amount is around Rs 1445.98 crore and lists of farmers will be available till February 28.

Rs 2 lakh in the form of loan waiver will be credited into their bank accounts in the next 48 hours. The budgetary session of the state government began on Monday. On the first day, the benefit of loan waiver has been given to a total of 15,358 farmers in 68 villages in the state.

The list of beneficiary farmers in concerned village who are eligible to get loan waiver is being downloaded through MahaIT online portal. This list is being published at public places in the village. Accordingly, farmers are being certified through their aadhaar card number and mobile number.

After certification, the cooperative department is giving them a receipt, mentioning loan waiver. Out of the total 706 beneficiaries in both villages, certification of 180 beneficiaries in Chandori village, while 150 beneficiaries in Sonambe village has been made.

The district has been given Rs 48 lakh for two villages. The funds will settle the loan of 706 farmers from these two villages. The farmers will get the waiver certificate after their loans are written off. The process of loan waiver has been started at the district level.

The government has said that they will complete the process of the loan waiver in the next three months. The process of the same will be conducted step by step and the lists will be announced accordingly.

After certification of beneficiaries, a receipt will be given to them and SMS will be sent on their mobiles. Loan waiver amount will be credited into bank accounts of these farmers in the next 48 hours after completion of the certification process.
