15 Sakhi polling booths in the district
As per the order of the Election Commission, women’s polling booths were set up during the Lok Sabha elections. The same will now be repeated at the assembly elections. Accordingly, ‘Women Managed Polling booths’ will be set up in 15 constituencies in the district. Women will handle all activities of the booth right from policing to staff and official election duties.
The polling booths will be run by women as part of their commitment to gender equality and women’s more constructive participation in the electoral process. No specific color will be used in all women’s managed polling booths.
Also, the Election Commission has given clear instructions to avoid unnecessary use of the color of any particular political party in the polling station. Women appointed at the polling booth can wear any color of their choice. To make this center more attractive and beautiful, special emphasis will be given to the cleanliness.
The decision to establish a Sakhi Voter both will help the women to increase their voting participation. One booth will be selected from each constituency. The security of the center will be taken into consideration when selecting the women’s polling station. 352 Sakhi Women booths will be set up in the state.
