109 vehicles carrying vegetables sent to Mumbai

There is a remarkable rise in the supply of vegetables at Nashik agriculture produce market committee in last few days. After restoring of a vegetable market in Mumbai and its suburban areas, farmers are receiving good price for their agriculture produce. In the meantime, 109 trucks carrying vegetables and potato were sent to Mumbai from market committee on Wednesday (May 7).

After the announcement of lockdown in the country to contain the coronavirus outbreak, there was a huge hurdle in the supply of the vegetable market in the first phase of the lockdown. However, after the removal of obstacles in the second phase of the lockdown, the functioning of the vegetable market has been restored.

After farmers gave priority to auction, traders participated in auction on large scale and are sending vegetables to Mumbai. In addition, the vegetable is arriving on a large scale for the last two weeks at the Nashik market committee.
Due to scorching summer heat, there have been improvements in prices of vegetables. A total of 14,689 quintals of vegetables, onion, potato and garlic were sent to Mumbai from the market committee.

Brinjal fetched a price of Rs 2250 per quintal on Wednesday, while bitter gourd received a price of Rs 2550 per quintal and smoothgourd got the price of Rs 2085 per quintal. Capsicum fetched a price of Rs 1062 per quintal, whereas tomato received a price of Rs 450 per quintal and flower got a price of Rs 1075 per quintal.

Cabbage fetched a price of Rs 625 per quintal, while pumpkin vine received a price of Rs 565 per quintal and cucumber got a price of Rs 1000 per quintal. Onion on Thursday fetched a price of Rs 700 per quintal, while potato got price of Rs 1750 per quintal and garlic fetched a price of Rs 7500 per quintal.
