1 lakh fake beneficiaries found in district


Nashik: The benefit of foodgrain being distributed under the public distribution system (PDS) has to be given to new 1 lakh beneficiaries in Nashik. District supply department has started to search for them. District supply officer Shrinivas Arjun has issued instructions to provide the benefit of this foodgrain to those needy.

The government has started to distribute the foodgrain through Point of Sale (PoS) machine. It helped in ascertaining fake beneficiaries. As beneficiaries have to be chosen in the ratio of the total population of the district, the supply department has started to search for eligible beneficiaries.

Foodgrain is distributed to the beneficiaries after taking thumb mark through PoS machine to bring transparency in foodgrain distribution. For this, it is necessary to link ration card with aadhaar card, but many families have two ration cards.

In addition, names of all families are included in both ration cards. As beneficiary get the benefit on one ration card, another ration card is being scrapped. Such 1 lakh fake beneficiaries have come to light in the district. Their names will be deleted and benefit will be provided to needy.

Currently, the district has 1,80,939 Antoday families, while 30.33 lakh are priority families. 35 kg foodgrain is given to Antoday beneficiaries, while 5 kg foodgrain is given to priority families. As 1 lakh fake beneficiaries have now bee found in the district, the benefit will be provided to new beneficiaries.

Special camps will be conducted in the district to select beneficiaries. 30,000 new beneficiaries will be chosen in Nashik city, informed district supply officer Shrinivas Arjun.
The annual income of beneficiaries in an urban area should be below Rs. 59,000, while the income of beneficiaries in a rural area should be below Rs. 43,000.

Beneficiaries will be chosen after checking all norms about this. The administration is taking care that the name of beneficiary having higher income should not be included in the list of new beneficiaries. Bank details and aadhaar card details of concerned will be taken for this.
