NASHIK: An initial report received by the district administration states that an estimated 728.13 hectares of crops were affected due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm that lashed the district on May 13. The report further says that grape crops were the worst hit with 621.40 hectares of it sustaining heavy damages.
The May 13 unseasonal rains had severely affected altogether 22 villages in talukas of Nashik, Dindori, Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri and Chandwad in the district damaging crops of 355 peasants.
Standing crops grapes, tomato, onion, corn, chilli, pomegranate and cucumber besides vegetables were badly hit.
The farmers’ wait for compensation is not over yet as the state government has still not received the final report, assessing the total extent of the crop damages from the Divisional Commissioner, duly signed by the District Collector.
