Police take action against 83 during combing operation


Nashik: Following rise in thefts and hooliganism, city police had conducted a combing operation on Saturday night and sealed boundaries in the city on Sunday morning. Action was taken against 47 hardened criminals and 83 involved in hooliganism.
As per orders by City Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, city police had started the combing operation on Saturday evening to curb housebreak-in incidents and other crimes. Police inspected criminals in various parts of the city at same time. 47 hardened criminals were interrogated. 144 autorickshaws were inspected and fine was recovered from guilty. 48 hotels and lodges were inspected. Police had searched for six externees and took action under Mumbai police act against those involved in hooliganism. The combing operation was on till 11 pm on Saturday.
The police had sealed boundary areas in various parts of the city on Sunday morning. Boundaries at two locations in jurisdiction of each police station were sealed. Locations where chain snatching incidents are taking place were targeted especially. Police checked vehicles at every point and recovered a fine more than Rs. 30,000 and seized a two-wheeler.
Two DCPs, three ACPs, 13 senior police inspectors, 32 officials and 144 police personnel took part in the operation.
