Police seize weapons from Valmiknagar

Panchavati: A gang of 40-50 persons had ransacked vehicles around 11 pm on Monday in Patharvat Lane area, Panchavati to create terror among residents. Police are searching for suspects involved in this and conducted combing operation for second consecutive day. They found weapons kept on a roof of house in Walmiknagar. Meanwhile, district local court remanded the accused to four days police custody.

The gang of accused went on rampage around 11 pm on Monday over a previous rivalry with a resident of the area Vinayak Deepak Late alias Zagdya. They had also ransacked 10-12 vehicles. The accused also entered residence of Zagdya and ransacked the goods in the residence and fled from the spot.

Panchavati police registered a case of riot against Avinash Kaulkar, Premchand Kaulkar, Rohit Kadale, Hrishikesh Garad, Kiran Gotu Gosavi and others in connection with this.

Thereafter, police arrested Mahaveer Arun Kaulkar, Tushar Gafoor Shaikh, Riyaz Yusuf Shaikh and Mayur Shivaji Ghatke and interrogated them.

On the other hand, police found sharp edged weapons like sword, sickle, chopper and knife on the roof of one house during their search drive in Walmiknagar on second day of the incident. They have doubt that these weapons were used in riot.

Another case has been registered against Mahaveer Kolkar and Tushar Gafoor Shaikh for discovering the weapons. Local residents were also interrogated. On the backdrop of this, police personnel have been deployed in Walmiknagar and DCP Laxmikant Patil ordered to interrogate each persons coming to the area.

DCP Laxmikant Patil, ACP Vijaykumar Chavan, police inspector Ananda Wagh Subhashchandra Deshmukh, PSI Shailendra Mhatre and other police personnel were present during the search operation. to search for criminals.
