Nashik : The city police have targeted those criminals who are on record and thieves to end crime in the city. 9 hardened criminals were arrested in action taken through various police stations and goods worth Rs. 21.88 lakh was seized from them, informed Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal in a media briefing.
On the backdrop of rising thefts and crime in the city, Police Commissioner Dr. Singal issued instructions to all police stations. Police have targeted criminals on record. Crime branch unit I, II, Sarkarwada, Mumbai Naka and Mhasrul police took action against criminals in last two days.
Acting on a tip-off, Sarkarwada police arrested Akhtar Shaikh from Bhivandi who was absconding. During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in five crimes. 14 tola gold and two motorcycles amounting to total Rs. 4.25 lakh were seized from him.
In an action by crime branch unit I, police arrested robbers Shankar Nagesh Pujari (28, resident of Ramwadi, Panchavati) and Ganesh Bajirao Kedare (26, resident of Bhokre Chawl, Mhasrul) at CBS. During interrogation, they admitted that they involved in house-break ins in the areas fall in jurisdiction of Indiranagar, Adgaon, Bhadrakali and Upnagar police stations. They had used Ford Icon for this. This four-wheeler, 217 gram gold and 320 gram silver jewelleries amounting to total Rs. 8.26 lakh from them.
The police officials and personnel of unit II arrested hardened criminal Ginnya alias Anil Dashrath Pithekar (23, resident of Indira Gandhi Colony, Lekhanagar, New Nashik). Police wanted him in connection with house-break in and attempt to kill a person and other cases. 230 gram gold jewelleries and other goods amounting to total Rs. 6.21 lakh was recovered from him.
The Mhasrul police arrested hardened criminals Deepak alias Dav Raghunath Walvi and Ganesh Ramdas Jadhav. During interrogation they admitted their involvement in four crimes. 2.5 tola gold, 20 mobile handsets and laptop amounting to total Rs. 3.15 lakh were recovered from them. Mumbai Naka police arrested three in connection with cheat of Rs. 26 lakh. The names of accused are Azim Gulam Shaikh, Zaheer Banemiya Shaikh and Rahul Sahane all residents of Old Nashik.
DCP Vijaykumar Magar, Swati Kangne, Shrikrishna Kokate, ACP Sachin Gore, Dr. Raju Bhujbal, Vijay Chavan, Ajay Deore, senior police inspector Narayan Nyahalde, N S Mainkar, Dr. Sitaram Kolhe, Sunil Nandwalkar, Subhashchandra Deshmukh, Sarika Ahirrao, Gangadhar Devde and Deepak Girme were also present.
