Nashik : In line with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) has offered admissions to BA, B.Com degree courses twice in an academic year with effect from January 2018, apprised YCMOU Vice Chancellor E Vayunandan while speaking to daily ‘Deshdoot’.
Currently, the YCMOU conducts admission process only once in a year between June-July. As a result of this, those students who miss an opportunity for admission, have to wait for one more year to take another chance. The new system will open the doors for new admissions in the month of January itself, besides the prevailing admission process which takes place in the months of June-July.
On an experimental basis, the proposed system will only be applicable for admission to BA, B.Com. Other courses will also be included in the process provided success ratio of the proposed new system, the sources said.
The YCMOU is also educating the jail inmates. With the commencement of a new system, more and more students will be absorbed in the mainstream of education, said VC E Vayunandan. The YCMOU consists of eight regional divisions with 4,000 centres acrosss the state. However, at present, only 2,800 centres are working in which over 6 lakh students imparting education.
