Satpur: Nashik Municipal Corporation sealed 11 shops in Khoka Market and 4 shops in Chhatrapati Shivaji Market at Satpur under its drive to recover outstanding rent of shops. Rs. 4.5 lakh was recovered in the drive.
The Municipal Commissioner expressed his disappointment over outstanding amount of rent with shop holders and issued notices to officials and employees. They were instructed to undertaken a drive to recover the rent.
On the backdrop of this, a recovery drive was conducted under divisional officer Nirmala Gaikwad at Khoka Market. As 10 shop holders, out of 22 shop holders did not pay rent, their shops were sealed, whereas 5 shops were sealed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Market. Rs. 4.71 lakh was recovered in the drive.
Complaining that rent charged to shops in Khoka Market area was higher, shop holders refused to pay additional rent. They were disappointed over charging of rent as per 19 square feet. As rent of Rs 19 is being charged for metal sheds and Rs. 15 for for pucca shops, rent of Khoka Market is due, as per discussions among traders. Amount from 2014 is added in it.
Rent recovery as per old rate is completed nearly. Despite this government charging the rent with new rate and is recovering last two years’ rent, traders are complaining.
The shop holders tried to meet the Municipal Commissioner, but they could not meet him. They met house leader Dinkar Patil and explained their side. Shop holders also met chairperson of standing committee Shivaji Gangurde and demanded him to provide justice to them.
Meanwhile, this drive will continue for four days. Traders should pay outstanding amount in time and cooperate with NMC, urged NMC administration.
