NMC found 166 breeding spots of mosquito

Nashik : A cleanliness fortnight is being observed in state under Swachh Bharat Mission by central government. The malaria department found 166 breeding spots of mosquito in its drive to inspect mosquito breeding spots and to create awareness among people. Larvae were found in 125 residences. The insecticide was sprayed and Gappi fishes were also released at 139 sites. Nashik Municipal Corporation created awareness among people for prevention of infectious diseases and breeding of mosquitos.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan across the country to realise the dream of clean India by Mahatma Gandhi. A programme ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ is being conducted under this. NMC had conducted a grand cleanliness drive at all prabhags on Friday and lifted 352.5 tonnes of waste. Thereafter, NMC malaria department, headoffice and all divisional offices conducted a dengue related survey and created awareness among people.

The malaria department personnel visited every household and inspected containers which were used to store water. After inspection of 9,568 residences, larvae were found at 125 residences. The highest 36 mosquito breedings sites have been found in Nashik Road area. In addition, 11,395 water storage sites were also inspected. Out of these, the larvae were found at 166 places, whereas insecticide was sprayed at 57 places.

The malaria department conducted group meetings at 119 places and created awareness was about infectious diseases and eradication of mosquitoes. In addition, awareness was also created through loudspeaker in 15 prabhags for eradication of mosquito and infectious diseases. 7800 pamphlets were distributed in various areas and 1737 stickers were distributed. The employees collected 224 tyres from New Nashik, Panchavati and Nashik Road areas. Insecticide was sprayed in all prabhags. Malaria department’s Dr. Rahul Gaikwad and employees took part in the drive. Corporators also took part in the drive at some areas.
