Nashik : The counting of votes of Nashik Road Division for the election of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will be conducted at two centres. Irked over the decision candidates who are going to contest the election demanded that the counting of vote should be held at one centre.
Nashik Road division has a total of 12 wards. Out of these, counting of votes for 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 55 wards will be conducted at Government Polytechnic College. Vote counting of  56, 57, 58, 59, 60 and 61 wards will be held in New Office of Municipal Corporation located near Durga Garden.
In 2007, counting of votes of 21 wards was held in Utsav Wedding Hall and completed in only four hours. Candidates were happy as the process held at only one place. But having to go to two place will be a big inconvenience for the candidates and their supporters. Huge traffic jam will be caused near the Government Polytechnic College on the day of counting of votes. This not fair to conduct counting of votes at at the  inaccessible place, opined some candidates.
Three storey building of the Municipal Corporation is empty at present. If counting of votes of 5 wards is conducted at the ground floor then votes of remaining wards should be counted on the first or second floor, demand the candidates. They also said that the Returning Officers and Concerned Police Department should take cognizance of the demand. Counting of votes at one place will be convenient for Police as they will not have to provide security at two places. Therefore counting of votes for all 12 wards should be conducted in the new office of the NMC, opined the candidates.
