Old Nashik: Muslim brethren observed Muharram in remembrance of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammed yesterday. A special religious programme was held at masjids in the city and common reading of ‘Dua-e-Ashura took place. Muslim youth mandals distributed juice at various places. A fair was organised at Imam Shahi ground.
There is special significance for Muharram in Islam religion. Muharram is first month of Islamic calender, Ashura observed on the date of 10. Many devotees observed fast. Juice was distributed at Dwarka, Takali Phata, Pakhal Road, Usmania Chowk, Ashoka Marg, Wadalagaon, Taibanagar, Gulshannagar, Sadiqnagar, Vinaynagar, Sainathnagar, Indiranagar, Shivajiwadi, Bharatnagar, Ashfaq Khan Chowk, Mohammadali Road, Wadala Road, Jaideepnagar, Millatnagar, Qazinagar, Wadala Naka, Sarda Circle, Sarda Circle, Ganjmal, Shalimar, Khadkali, Bhadrakali, Bado Durgah Sharif area and other places in the city.
