Nashik : The four lifts at government super speciality hospital are down since last four months. As a result, a time has come to take heart, caner, brain and kidney patients from staircase. Patients are suffering on large scale due to this. Following warning by Aam Aadmi Party activists, moves are being started to restart them.
The divisional super speciality hospital is situated at Shalimar. Heart, kidney, brain and cancer diseases are being treated here. Patients from Nashik, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar and other districts are coming to this hospital, but instruments here are not working many times, patients are facing inconvenience. State government should make special provision in the budget to repair the non-functioning lifts, demanded MLA Devyani Pharande in state assembly two days back. As there is no financial provision for repair of medical equipments, an aid has to be sought from state secretariat.
Hospital has Rs. 15 crore deposited under Rajiv Gandhi Yojana, but concerned hospital has no power to use it. As a result, hospital has to depend on public works department and other mechanisms.
One lift which is functioning will operate only when senior officials arrive or after their orders. The hospital has four floors. Kidney cell is on top, followed by this heart and cancer cells. As lifts are not working, patients have to be taken through steps. This is going on since last four months.
The super speciality hospital administration demanded the PWD to repair them, but there was no action over this. After AAP activists Jitendra Bhave, Jagbir Singh and other activists argued with the hospital administration, steps are being taken to give a remind letter to the PWD.
It is coming to light that Rs. 50 lakh will be required to repair the four lifts. The electricity department of PWD sent a budget of Rs. 50 lakh for approval. Rs. 14.87 lakh will require to repair two lifts, whereas third lift will require Rs. 13.89 lakh and small lift will require Rs. 6.06 lakh. It is coming to light these life are not working as they were not maintained.
