Nashik : The state Health Minister Dr. Deepak Sawant visited the district civil hospital and inspected infants in SNCU cell and incubators.
He was heading to Malegaon for inauguration of Mission Indradhanush at Malegaon. Dr. Sawant paid a sudden visit to the cell without informing anyone. He inspected newly operationalised incubator system in the cell and held discussions in detail with chief of the cell Dr. Pankaj Gajre.
55 infants had died in last month due to lack of incubators. More than 150 infants had died in last few months.
Dr. Sawant had immediately conducted the meeting in the state secretariat and took review. He had paid surprise visit to the district hospital on September 9. Dr. Sawant had conducted the review meeting then and assured to make additional incubators within a month. Accordingly, Wipro and Pawar agro foundation had provided 9 incubators to the hospital and they have been functionalised since October 3. Dr. Sawant inspected them. District health officer Dr. Sushil Wakchoure was also present.
