New Nashik : The health department of Nashik Municipal Corporation took action against those using plastic carry bags, burning waste in open and littering the places from April to July, 2017 and recovered Rs. 72,500 as fine from them, informed divisional health officer Ramesh Gajre.
The action was conducted under guidance of divisional officer Dr. Sunita Kumavat in various parts of the city. Some sellers and professionals were using plastic carry bags below 50 microns. An action to seize the plastic carry bags was conducted against them and fine of Rs. 24,400 was recovered from them. Stock of plastic carry bags was also seized from them.
77 actions took place against those found littering the place and fine of Rs. 43,100 was recovered from them, Gajre also informed. Though there is ban on burning the waste in open, two persons were found doing this. A fine of Rs. 10,000 (Rs. 5,000 each) was recovered from them.
Ramesh Gajre, sanitary inspector Raosaheb Mate, Sunil Vajpayee, Balasaheb Bagul and Ravi Jadhav took part in the action.
