Election for 171 gram panchayats to be held tomorrow

Nashik: The election for 171 gram panchayats in the district will be conducted at 688 voting centres tomorrow (Oct. 7). Election department has completed all the preparations for this and election related material was distributed. After 627 candidates got elected unopposed in the election to be held for 1,647 seats, 2,140 candidates are in fray for 1,020 seats.

As per election programme for 171 gram panchayats in the district, notice was published on September 7. Thereafter, nominations were accepted from September 15 to 22. Out of total 3,891 nominations, 3,787 nominations were found valid. 1,078 candidates withdrew from the fray, while 627 candidates got elected unopposed. 2,140 candidates are remained in the fray for 1,020 seats.

22 candidates got elected unopposed in 12 gram panchayats at Sinnar taluka, while 2 candidates got elected unopposed in single gram panchayat at Peth and 9 candidates are remained in the fray. 57 candidates got elected unopposed in 20 gram panchayats at Niphad and 389 candidates are remained in the fray. 80 candidates got elected unopposed in 16 gram panchayats at Kalvan taluka and 132 candidates are remained in the fray. Highest 207 candidates got elected unopposed in 40 gram panchayats at Baglan taluka. 276 candidates are remained in the fray here. 27 candidates got elected unopposed in 8 gram panchayats at Yeola taluka and 70 candidates are remained in the fray.

25 candidates got elected unopposed in 9 gram panchayats and 155 candidates are remained in the fray. 7 candidates got elected unopposed in 17 gram panchayats at Dindori, while 78 candidates are remained in the fray. 18 candidates got elected unopposed in 11 gram panchayats at Malegaon. 196 candidates are remained in the fray.

44 candidates got elected unopposed in 12 gram panchayats at Deola and 196 candidates are remained in the fray. 5 candidates got elected unopposed at single gram panchayat at Trimbakeshwar. 10 candidates are remained in the fray. 132 candidates got elected unopposed in 34 gram panchayats at Chandwad and 400 candidates are remained in the fray.

The election will be conducted tomorrow from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. 688 control units and 1376 ballot units will be required for this. They were handed over to returning officers after inspecting them. 3500 employees (5 each at voting centre) have been appointed for the election.
