Nashik : Opposition members strongly opposed BJP, which was insisting on property and water tax hike for development of city in NMC standing committee meeting yesterday. After demand by the opposition members to reduce water leakage and proper survey of properties, chairperson Shivaji Gangurde decided to hike commercial and non-domestic property and water tax, barring residential property tax and domestic water tax. In addition, he approved revised budget of last year and budget of Rs. 1410.07 crore for this year which were tabled by the Municipal Commissioner with inclusion of various suggestions by members.
The special budgetary meeting of NMC standing committee was held under its chairperson Shivaji Gangurde and in presence of acting Municipal Commissioner and Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Borde. Clarifying that members made many suggestions for increasing NMC revenue and their suggestions will be considered, the chairperson announced to give fund of Rs. 30 lakh to corporators in the new year.
After discussions, the chairperson declared that approval was being given to the budget presented by the Municipal Commissioner with inclusion of suggestions by members regarding development works in it. Thereafter, he approved revised budget for 2016-17 and budget for 2017-18 of tree authority.
