Nashik : Following question mark over faulty underground monsoon sewage work under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Mayor Ranjana Bhansi decided CBI probe into the work. With this decision opposition in Nashik Municipal Corporation is likely to face difficulties.
The Mayor, opposition leader Ajay Boraste, environmentalist Devang Jani and some prominent personalities took part in a discussions conducted by a news channel in city. During these discussions, the Mayor declared to conduct the CBI probe into faulty monsoon and underground sewage work. Following this announcement by the Mayor, Shiv Sena is likely to face difficulty.
During discussions, it came to light that rainwater was accumulated at many places in the city on June 14 and Friday (July 14) and sewage water was mixing in Godavari. Opposition leader Boraste stated, “Rainwater on large scale was accumulated in the city on June 14 as pre-monsoon works had not taken place in the city. After we had moved a motion in General Body Meeting on this backdrop, measures regarding this and action against concerned officials were expected, but rulers had wrapped the General Body Meeting. As a result, Nashikites had not got clarifications about this, he added. Boraste drew attention to transparent functioning by the rulers.
After mediaperson insisted on this point, the Mayor drew attention to the fact that monsoon and underground sewage works took place in the regime of Shiv Sena. “People aware about who was Mayor at that time and who was in underground sewage department. Water is accumulating in the city due to faulty works by them. The concerned are responsible for this. I will demand CBI probe into this work and will write a letter to party seniors,” she informed. Devang Jani filed a complaint with the Lokayukt about corruption in internal works under JnURM and hearing over this is going on. He also took part in the discussions and drew attention to some points.
