Cases filed against three traders for selling foreign cigarette brands


Nashik: Cases against three traders have been filed for selling and storing foreign cigarette brands at Ambad and Bhadrakali police stations under cigarette and other tobacco products act for stock of foreign cigarettes worth Rs. 13.34 lakh. The crime branch personnel had conducted a raid on Saturday (May 20) night and seized stock of cigarettes.

The names of traders are Karishma traders’ Ashish Amarchand Firodiya (46, resident of Vastu Park, Ashwinnagar, New Nashik), Bombay traders’ Mohsin Khalil Shaikh (20, resident of Khadkali, house no. 1335, Bhadrakali) and A1 Supari shop owner Asim Arif Bhimani (30, resident of house no. 3425, opposite Badi Durgah, Bhadrakali).

The Police Commissioner got input that foreign brand cigarettes were stored and selling in Bhadrakali and Ambad area. The Police Commissioner had under guidance of DCP (crime) Vijay Magar senior police inspector of unit I Narayan Nyahalde formed two squads.

The police assessed the truth. The police squad raided Karishma traders at shop no. 6 in Unique complex, Ambad. Ashish Amarchand Firodiya is owner of the shop. Police found foreign cigarette brand packets like Paris, Black, Cleopatra, Gudang Garam etc. worth Rs. 2.77 lakh . Another squad raided Bombay traders of Mohsin Khalil Shaikh besides Trimbak police chowki in Bhadrakali, whereas third squad raided A1 supari shop of Asim Arif Bhimani at Kokanipura in Old Nashik.

The police had seized foreign cigarette packets worth Rs. 10.57 lakh from both shops. They had seized total stock worth Rs. 13.34 lakh. Cases in connection with this have been registered at Ambad and Bhadrakali police stations. Police inspector Narayan Nyahalde, assistant police inspector Sachin Khairnar, Deepak Girme, PSI of Bhadrakali police station Ware, Sanjay Pathak, havildar Sanjay Mulak and other personnel took part in the raid.
