28 complaints about whatsapp hacking filed


Nashik : The complaints about whatsapp hacking are increasing in the city. Whatsapp accounts of many citizens have been hacked. Out of these, 28 have filed complaints with cyber cell of the police. Of these, 26 are women. It shows that the hackers are targeting women. On the backdrop of this, police are urging citizens to provide attention to cyber security.

The hackers are sending obscene messages through hacked accounts. Police are alert after this and started to investigate into this. It has come to light that hackers are hacking the whatsapp accounts using one time passwords (OTP). While reinstalling whatsapp or facebook account, concerned company sends an OTP.

Hackers are hacking whatsapp account of one person in whatsapp group first and are hacking accounts of others by accessing the contact list. Hackers are requesting for OTP from hacked accounts while concerned are reinstalling their accounts. If the concerned person forwards this message, his/her account gets hacked, informed senior police inspector of cyber police station Anil Pawar.

Suspect hackers also hacked facebook accounts of some persons. 28 complaints have been filed at cyber police station since Wednesday. Obscene messages were being sent from whatsapp account of Dr. Manisha Raundal working in Nashik Cyclist Association since last two days to her friends and relatives.

Though Dr. Manisha shut her mobile internet, this was going on. The same thing happened with Dr. Sarika Deore. She then rushed to the cyber police station on Wednesday. Many doctors, models, players, industrialists and girl-students are troubled by this. Cyber police have filed a case against two unidentified hackers.
